Christian Formation at St. Augustine’s begins at 9:30 as the whole community gathers for worship and where the full participation and energy of children and youth enrich us all. (Please see the Worship pages for more information, including a description of Children’s Chapel.) Children and youth are invited to attend Church School immediately after receiving Holy Communion, with Formation time concluding at 11:00. Please contact Debbie Buesing with questions about Church School, or to volunteer as a children’s chapel leader, church school teacher, or youth group leader for the coming year.
Godly Play: Preschool–1st grade (ages 3-7)
Godly Play provides children a language of faith through parables, sacred stories, silence, and more. Our Atrium is a sacred space for children to explore stories of our faith.
Godly Quest: 2nd–5th grade
Godly Quest uses Godly Play principles and enriched stories for deeper engagement and wondering. Our exploration of the stories of The People of God continues this year with a focus on the Prophets.
Feasting on the Word
We invite young people in the "tweens and teens" range to join Feasting on the Word, a class that explores our faith by engaging in the scripture read in church every Sunday.
First sunday of the month
On First Sundays, our regular after-service activities, including Christian formation, are suspended in order to provide unstructured time for fellowship for all ages.
We celebrate the seasons of our lives together with events that focus on children and families. Some of these include:
- St. Nick’s Party
- Christmas Pageant
- Ash Wednesday Imposition of Ashes and Eucharist for All God’s Children
- Children’s Good Friday Journey to the Cross
- Easter Egg Hunt
- Vacation Bible School
