Letter from the Co-Chairs of the Search Committee
On June 27th, the Diocese of Chicago posted St. Augustine’s Rector Search documents and began receiving applications for our new rector. This is an exciting and important time for us, as we discern the future into which God is calling our parish and the person who, with the Holy Spirit, will guide us. We are humbled by this commission and thank our church family for their trust.
Our search committee is made up of a cross-section of our parish. Across our parish, some have called St. Augustine’s home for over 30 years; some joined the church within the last few years; former Catholics and former Evangelicals serve alongside cradle Episcopalians; Millennials and Boomers, singles and grandparents, gay and straight, conservatives and progressives, high church and low, we are St. Augustine’s. As our committee journeys together through this process, we aspire to be guided together by the Spirit and we are humbled by the task and its importance to our future. The search committee will begin reviewing applications and scheduling interviews in late summer. We thank you for your patience and trust as we continue our work.
We also ask that you pray with and for us:
God of all time and seasons, we ask your presence and blessing on the Rector Search Committee and upon us during this time of transition; that we may listen to you and to one another as we discern your call in the life and ministry of this congregation and readily go where you lead us. We ask this in the name of Jesus who walks with us and bids us follow, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Joy Witt & Gray Curchin
